The Columbus Blue Jackets sit 11th in the Eastern Conference with a 40-30 record and have lost two straight games.
The Blue Jackets have cycled through 13 goalies who logged over 20 games since 2000, but a handful of netminders barely left a mark. Brian Boucher, Fred Brathwaite, Wade Dubielewicz, David LeNeveu and Ty Conklin each logged fewer than 25 appearances for Columbus, yet their brief stints still count in the franchise ledger.
Brian Boucher suited up for three games in March 2007. He went 1-1, allowed nine goals, posted a 3.79 goals-against average and a .866 save percentage. After the Blue Jackets, Boucher played six more NHL seasons.
Fred Brathwaite played 21 games in 2003-04. He went 4-11-1 with a 3.37 GAA and a .897 save percentage. He never played in the NHL again after leaving Columbus.
Wade Dubielewicz logged three games from January to March 2009. He went 1-2, allowed 10 goals, posted a 3.56 GAA and a .870 save percentage. He played only three more NHL games after his Columbus stint.
David LeNeveu appeared once on April 3, 2011. He faced 12 shots, allowed two goals and finished with a 6.00 GAA and a .833 save percentage. He never played another NHL game.
Ty Conklin played 11 games in 2006-07. He went 2-3-2, allowed 27 goals, posted a 3.30 GAA and a .871 save percentage. He played five more NHL seasons after Columbus.
Every team needs emergency goaltending at some point. The Blue Jackets have leaned on short-term stopgaps more than most franchises. These five netminders—plus honorable mentions like Allen York and Martin Prusek—highlight the revolving door in net for Columbus over the years.
The Blue Jackets’ goalie pipeline isn’t overflowing right now. Two young Russians sit a few years apart in the system, while Evan Gardner and Nolan LaLonde patrol the crease in Cleveland. Gardner is the higher-rated prospect, but both will need to prove themselves in the coming seasons.
